I was looking around every corner, had I seen that tree before? No, it couldn't have been the same tree. I tripped for the umpteenth time, and got one more scratch on my face. It was pitch black outside, the rain had stopped, after about 9 straight days of it, but the heat was so intense I thought that I was going to shrivel up and die.
They would stop at nothing to catch me. After weeks of tracking, they had finally found me and I was going to die. Unless, I ran. I planned to run and run until my feet bled. It was t he only way to escape them. They were hungry, and hadn't eaten for days on end. I, on the other hand, hadn't eaten for weeks. I had been lost out there for about a month. My family hadn't noticed that I had gone. But the flower was so interesting, I needed to take a picture. Just a quick one, I parted from them for what seemed like a second, but when I turned around again. They ad already gone without me. I had to survive in the jungle. Looking for them ever since. But I had not realized that the flower that I had plucked from the soil, was sacred to them. After I took the picture, I plucked it from the ground and it immediately started to lose its petals. One at a time, each flowing softly to the ground below. It was beautiful, and I didn't want it to die. There had to be something that I could do. I ran with the flower, and found myself in an abandoned village. Or so I thought that it was abandoned. They saw me, and I was in the village for no longer than two minutes, when an axe came flying at me, and just missed my head. Falling to the ground, I found that I was getting very sleepy. My grip on the flower loosened, and I began to drift off, but then I remembered that I hadn't much time before the flower was completely dead. I knew from the start that there was something different about the flower, like it had dark secrets hidden in every molecule.
Ha I read this to the class. It's such a good way to open up to a potential book, which I think you can do. You have a gifted voice.
